An international school of prehistory

The International Doctorate in Quaternary and Prehistory (IDQP)'s objective is to train researchers and experts at a high scientific level, with a naturalistic and interdisciplinary approach of the major scientific debates that animate the international scientific community in terms of human evolution.

IDQP partnership comprises the Università Degli Studi di Ferrara (UNIFE) (Coordinator), the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris (MNHN), the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) and the Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD, Portugal), with the support of the Instituto Politecnico de Tomar (IPT, Portugal).

A three year program and related mobilities

The IDQP offers an integrated set of research topics, scientific equipment, prehistoric sites and heritage collections, together with the related scientific support. Student mobility is designed at different levels: 1) mobility of 12 months in a partner institution, 2) mobility of medium duration (3 months) within private or public companies outside the partnership; 3) short-term mobility (1 month), in a second partner institution or an associated partner.

The cursus and its related mobilities/secondments is intended to help the student to build a CV of excellence, that will include participation in international scientific meetings and direct contacts with potential employers. The IDQP consortium will deliver a double or triple doctoral degree, depending on the number of partner institutions involved in the student’s cursus.

Cursus duration: 3 years

Registration and tuition fees : €2000 / year

Stipends (scholarship or doctoral contracts depending on the national regulations) are available every year for European and non European nationals.
