Henri Neuville
Henri Neuville (1872-1946) began his career at the Muséum in 1890 and a few years later became specimen preparer to Georges Pouchet (1833-1894), Professor of Comparative anatomy. After Pouchet’s death, the new holder of the Professorship of Comparative anatomy, Henri Filhol (1843-1902), requested that Neuville prepare numerous anatomical specimens, including brains that are exhibited here. Neuville was then given responsibility for restoring and exhibiting the collections in the new gallery of Comparative anatomy, the planning of which had begun by Pouchet.
Over the course of his career, he carried out research on the conservation of specimens in fluid and on the evolutionary history of species, by way of anatomy, embryology and palaeontology.
