SW Australia 2013

SW Australia 2013 was the third and final mission of the "The survivors of Gondwana" Cafotrop-Muséum project, after the Patagonia mission in Chile in 2011 and Pondoland in South Africa in 2012. It took place from 11 November to 5 December 2013.

The mission took place in a triangle between Perth, Albany and the most south-western tip of Australia (Margaret River) where Eucalyptus forests grow, surviving forests providing shelter to a biological diversity probably of ancient origins. This site is one of five Mediterranean biodiversity hotspots as defined by Myers et al. (2000).

Five national parks were selected as collection sites:

  • Porongurup National Park,
  • Bramley National Park,
  • Shannon National Park,
  • D’Entrecasteaux National Park,
  • Midgegoroo National Park.
