[FINISHED] "The Parisianer: Museum chronicles" Exhibition

This is what is behind the collaboration between the association La Lettre P (The Letter P), behind the fictitious magazine The Parisianer, and the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle (National Museum of Natural History).

An artists’ collective has embarked on this exploration, to create twenty-one front page covers linked to its history and to that of natural history.

This series of posters shows us that humour and poetry are not incompatible with the restitution of historical and scientific facts. Learning can be fun!

The facts, delivered as having made the front page of an imaginary magazine The Parisianer, are a springboard towards the necessary imaginary world, putting the efforts of past generations of naturalists in studying and comprehending the world around us into perspective.

Created on the occasion of the publication of the book "The Parisianer. Museum chronicles”, 21 works exhibited in large format in the heart of the Jardin des Plantes (Garden of plants), illustrating some of the great natural history discoveries and major events in the history of the Muséum (Museum).

Grasping the origins of life, discovering a Diplodocus for the first time, understanding the sexuality of plants, identifying the ravages of human activities on our planet, seeking the remains of lost kingdoms, dreaming of conquering the universe... So many topics inspiring this artists’ collective to retrace the formidable human adventure that is science.

Meet famous people (Voltaire, Buffon, Paul Rivet, etc.) and travel through the highlights of the Muséum's history: the resistance of the Musée de l'Homme (Museum of Mankind) during the Second World War, the first time a giraffe set foot in France in 1827 at the Ménagerie (Menagerie), the introduction of the blob at the Parc zoologique de Paris (Paris Zoological Park) in 2019...

Beyond these historical chronicles, the collective has also tasked itself with imagining the future of our planet through science-fiction scenarios based on the melting of the ice caps or the colonisation of Mars.
