The MNHN’s cultural anthropology collections focus on the interrelationship between human societies and their environment with a focus on techniques, representations, knowledge and know-how. The field is actually twofold, involving ethnology and ethnobiology. In addition, ethnology deals with the techno-cultural evolution of societies in a context of globalization as well as issues of identity. Ethnobiology, which can be further broken down into ethnobotany and ethnozoology, revolves around human relationships with plants and animals.
