Society of Friends of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle and the Jardin des Plantes

The Society of Friends of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle and the Jardin des Plantes was founded in 1907.


Recognised as a public service in 1926, the aim of the Society of Friends of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, according to Articles 1 and 2 of its statutes, is:

"{…} To lend moral and financial support to the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle, enrich its collections, menageries, laboratories, greenhouses, gardens and libraries, and promote related scientific work and education".

"{…} It makes every effort to make or bring about donations and free loans for the purpose of developing the Muséum’s various services, to acquire objects of scientific or historic value in the interests of these services and to obtain all support for the establishment which might ensure its prosperity".

Its secretarial office is based at the Maison Cuvier, near the Muséum’s Grand Amphithéâtre (Great Amphitheatre)
