First
record of the filefish, Stephanolepis diaspros (Monacanthidae),
in the Adriatic Sea

Abstract.
- A lessepsian
migrant, the filefish Stephanolepis diaspros Fraser-Brunner, 1940,
is recorded for the first time in the Adriatic Sea. The specimen (77.3
mm TL) was found on August 23, 2002 on the market of Ulcinj (Montenegro).
According to the fishermen, it was captured by a beach
seine in the area of Hrid Djeran (41°52’N-19°17’E)
on a 20 m-depth
sandy-rocky bottom. The specimen was deposited in the ichthyological
collection of the Institute of Oceanography and
Fisheries
of Split (catalogue number:
IOR 293).
Résumé.
- Premier signalement du poisson-bourse Stephanolepis diaspros
(Monacanthidae) en mer Adriatique.
Un spécimen de migrant lessepsien, le poisson-bourse Stephanolepis
diaspros Fraser-Brunner, 1940, est signalé pour la première
fois de l’Adriatique. Le spécimen (77,3 mm TL) a été
trouvé le 23 août 2002 sur le marché de Ulcinj (Monténégro).
Selon les pêcheurs, il a été capturé par une
senne de plage dans la zone de Hrid Djeran (41°52’N-19°17’E)
sur un fond sablo-rocheux de 20 m de profondeur. Le spécimen a
été déposé dans la collection ichtyologique
de l’Institut océanographique et des Pêches de Split
(numéro de catalogue: IOR 293).
