Résumé. - Lors d'une campagne de pêche au casier en Polynésie française, un crabe appartenant à un genre nouveau et à une espèce nouvelle, Pleurocolpus boileaui, a été capturé à 190 m de profondeur. Ce genre nouveau se caractérise par une disposition très particulière des chélipèdes et des autres péréiopodes, qui ménage une profonde cavité devant permettre une meilleure circulation de l'eau autour des branchies lorsque l'animal est au repos.

Abstract. - Fishing with baited traps in French Polynesia at a depth of 190 m has resulted in the capture of one crab belonging to a new genus and a new species, Pleurocolpus boileaui, described here. The new genus is characterized by a very special arrangement of the chelipeds and the other pereiopods which together provide a deep hollow probably allowing a better circulation of water around the branchiae when the animal is at rest.
