Scientific publications
of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle
since 1802
Version française
In 1802 the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle
became a scientific publisher by editing the first fascicule of the Annales.
Since this date a multitude of titles has been published. The Annales became the Mémoires then the Nouvelles Annales, the Archives and subsequently the Nouvelles Archives to which the Bulletin des Nouvelles Archives was added. Later the Bulletin appeared of which 4 series succeeded one another, the latest being divided into 4 or 5 sections (the third series having two different volume numberings!). Finally the Mémoires were also divided into series subdivided into sections...
Today the scientific publications of the Muséum are centered on 3 journals and 6 monograph collections; the series and sections have disappeared; there is a single system of volume numbering and the supplements have been discontinued.
However, tens of titles and thousands of published fascicules and volumes remain, often inconsistently or ambiguously cited. The aim of the following pages is to allow librarians and users of the Muséum's publications to find their way, to check their holdings and to properly cite the publications concerned.
Information is accessible through an alphabetical list of the titles or through synoptic table showing the succession of titles.
