Advanced search

Caution: Searches are processed only on the web site of the Publications Scientifiques du Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle de Paris.
The internal search engine of the site of the Muséum's Scientific Publications enables you to search the publications on a given subject or area or of a given author.
Search is carried out in the titles, authors, summaries, key words of the articles of the 3 journals published since 1995; and in the titles, authors and summaries (for the volumes presented in detail) of the monographs.
Some of the results lead to a page containing a list of titles (volumes not presented in detail). To find the title sought in this list, you can use the function "Search" of your navigator.

By default the search engine tries to locate pages which have exact matches for all of the words entered in your search query. If that fails, it then tries to locate pages which contain any words in your search query. If that happens a short message is displayed at the top of the search results indicating this has been done.

In addition, there are several ways to modify the default search behavior.

  • + and - qualifiers
If you prepend a word with + that word is required to be on the page.
If you prepend a word with - that word is required to not be on the page.
    Example: +fish -france
  • * wildcard
If a query word ends with a * all words on a page which start the same way as that query word will match.
    Example: orchid*
  • ? wildcard
If a query word contains a ? any character will match that position.
    Example: amphibi?ns

All of these techniques can be combined: +amphibi?ns -guyan*
