Thèmes de recherches

Mes recherches se situent dans le domaine de la Systématique et de l’Evolution des plantes vasculaires (Trachéophytes). Elles s’inscrivent dans des perspectives d’exploration, de description et d’analyse de la diversité biologique. En m’appuyant sur une taxonomie intégrative et en lien avec des reconstructions phylogénétiques fiables, mes objectifs sont :

d’accroître les connaissances sur la diversité botanique actuelle dans le contexte de crise biologique grandissante ; en particulier, synthétiser ces connaissances dans des publications et les mettre à disposition des ‘utilisateurs de taxons’ (écologues, biologistes de la conservation, gestionnaires de réserves…).

de mieux comprendre l’origine et la structuration de la diversité botanique actuelle et passée ; les reconstructions phylogénétiques sont utilisées dans des approches de biogéographie historique pour formuler des scénarios évolutifs expliquant la diversification spatio-temporelle des plantes.

de documenter et expliquer l’apparition et l’évolution de traits morphologiques et écologiques comme des adaptations (ou non) des plantes concernées.
Les concepts et méthodes nécessaires à mes recherches peuvent s’appliquer à des groupes de plantes vasculaires très variés. Néanmoins, mes recherches se focalisent sur les fougères et leurs plantes dites 'alliées', c'est-à-dire les Monilophytes et Lycophytes (encore nommés ‘Ptéridophytes’).

Projets en cours

Exemple : étude monographique du genre Megalastrum (Dryopteridaceae), en collaboration avec l'équipe de Robbin Moran (New-York Botanical Garden).
